Building Two Sub-Brands Inside a Single Loyalty Launch
Refrigerative Supply, an HVAC/R distributor with 18 branches across Canada, wanted to thank its customers with a new rewards program: RSL Rewards.
But RSL Rewards was really two programs. Mid-tier customers were invited to a returning All-Inclusive Travel incentive — a group trip the company had once run internally and now trusted our team to manage. Every other customer joined a Loyalty & Rewards points program.
Each customer belonged to one program, never both. So the question became:
How do we launch one brand while speaking to two audiences in completely different ways?
The two groups wanted different things.
Travel participants needed urgency and a clear finish line: a personalized spending goal, a deadline, and a week in paradise waiting at the end.
Loyalty participants needed to feel seen. Many would never chase a trip, but every purchase still mattered — and the program had to make that obvious.
The answer was a parent brand with two sub-brands: one shared identity so the program felt like a single thank-you, with distinct tone, imagery, and calls to action so no one ever received a message meant for someone else.
We built the campaign around a single entry point that split into two paths.
Every branch became the front door. A "Coming Soon" teaser built anticipation, then counter materials and QR codes invited customers to activate their account at RSLRewards.ca — where each customer was routed into their own program.
Warm, appreciative, and everyday. The messaging focused on earning points on every purchase — online or in-store — and redeeming them for brand-name merchandise, one-of-a-kind experiences, and more.
Aspirational and goal-driven. Messaging centered on a 7-day stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico — palm trees and sunshine while neighbours are stuck in the dead of winter — with a clear deadline to reach each personalized spending goal.
The campaign was produced through our 7-week Creative Sprint: a client discovery session to hear how Refrigerative Supply talked about its customers, participant journey mapping for each audience, mood boarding (geometric, bold, striking), weekly design critiques, internal and client reviews, and finally production and testing in HubSpot alongside print proofing.
I built the RSL Rewards identity and the design system our team reused across every touchpoint — so each new piece stayed on-brand and moved faster.

RSL Rewards sits inside Refrigerative Supply. The parent mark carries across both the Travel and Loyalty tracks, so two audiences still see one company.
As Creative Lead, I developed RSL Rewards from first concept through launch — shaping the strategy, the brand system, the copy direction, and every deliverable that reached customers.
Program results are still being collected and will be shared here soon.
This project reminded me that segmentation isn't just a data exercise — it's a creative one.
Two audiences can share a brand without sharing a message. When each person hears only what matters to them, a single program can feel personal to everyone.
That clarity is what turns a rewards program into a genuine thank-you.
